Yarntastic

Well, I paid a visit to Bluewater today to get some yarn from John Lewis to knit a little something for my friend who is having a baby. And I'm really pleased with what I ended up with - although the colour choice was very difficult indeed - I always find it hard to choose colours, they never seem to have the ones I want in the gauge I want - ho hum - still got some lovely bits.

So I got me some lovely green Rowan All Season Cotton to knit this little cardy
"Lucky".

I also got this gorgeous Rowan 4ply Soft to do this "Archie" cardy and hat.

I have also decided to do a little Scottie Dog in black, so I got the yarn for that too.

Flowers Everywhere

Well, it's done - I've actually done my first bit of felting. It was much easier than I thought it would be. I had been a daunted by the idea of it to start with, but once I understood what was to be done, I was away. I'm really pleased with the results. I'm giving this one to a friend and I'm in the process of making another one for myself - I think I could easily get a bit carried away with this and make a whole garden of flowers ! Still it would be lovely for winter to cheer things up - I think these could become staple birthday and Christmas presents, along with scarves and hats !

I'm currently having an internal debate on what to knit next. A friend of mine is having a baby in May and she hasn't told anyone the sex of the baby. She has however knitted it a little cross over cardigan in dark pink - so I'm guessing it's a girl. If it is a girl, so I would really like to knit her a little dress in pale blue or pink and then a little cardy and knickers in stripes of either pale blue and cream of pale pink and grey. However if it isn't a girl I'm in trouble if I've done only girl stuff. I know I should stick to neutral things, but that's so boring and I so want to do this lovely little set. Oh what to do - do I risk it, or not. I suppose I could risk it and then if it isn't a girl I could hold onto it for whoever next does have a girl and quickly whip her up something boyish. Oh dear - what to do - I need to get on with it as well, she is due end of May, but she usually has her babies early !

My first ever sock - I'm very pleased with myself for managing this, I had to do a bit of jiggery pokery around the ribbing, but overall I managed the shaping and all those needles, so I'm happy. Posted by Hello

Jane's Scarf - ignore the model, not very flattering ! I love the diagonal stripes on this - I'm a bit of a stripe maniac ! Posted by Hello

The Inside the little bag - look there is actual sewing in there ! Posted by Hello

Janes' Finished Bag - I love the little flowers on this, they are actually two flowers a multi coloured one and a plain one on top of each other. Mmmm lovely - wish it was mine ! Posted by Hello

Progress

My fingers have fair been flying just recently - I seem to have made real progress. I have finished the bag and scarf that I was doing for my friend from the wool that she just couldn't make progress with - they both look lovely and I really hope she likes them. I even managed to line the bag, which involved sewing on my machine - sewing has never been my strong point, but I really want to learn. So I was very pleased with myself on that.

I also finished my first ever sock - it's only an ankle sock and it's not that pretty, but it's finished and I'm chuffed with myself, so all I need to do now is do the second one to match and I'll be on my way.

I have also started the flower pin from Magknits - I've done the petals for two pins and one set are in the machine as we speak felting away merrily I hope. I've never done felting before, so this is another new experience for me.

I've also re-started a cardigan that I began for myself nearly three years ago - I was never happy with the pattern, but didn't really have the confidence then to alter it - now I feel much braver and I have taken some executive decisions on the style and I'm off again. It's in very chunky wool - Sirdar Super Nova - but since it is going to be mid calf length, I think it's going to take me a little while to get done - still it's something I can pick up when I don't want to think.

First Post Second Blog

Well - I've had such trouble with my last Blog - being unable to post pictures etc, that I thought, while it was still young, I would try another provider - so here is my new and hopefully improved blog.
